As an English teacher it becomes increasingly complex to monitor, grade, and keep track of a lot of paper. Being ecologically conscious, and teaching to a digital generation, turnitin.com provides an invaluable service to students and teachers alike at Kingsway.
All essays and word processed assignments will be uploaded to this website (unless stipulated otherwise), where I will be able to check for plagiarism, grade, and provide invaluable feedback to enhance student creative and academic writing. Students also receive a digital receipt of time and date that their work was submitted online for my review, which stimulates student and teacher accountability.
Schoology
Facebook is all the rage, and I find it can be an invaluable resource as an educator. However, certain legalese positions prohibit me from becoming friends with students. Schoology allows me to mimic the Facebook phenomena and bring it into my classroom learning environment in a safe and private digital location. Designated only for students and certainly accessible to parents who are interested, this website will serve as our personal classroom Facebook program. Students have access to resources, messages and course calendar on a needs basis. Interested parents, need only register with their parent code to have access to our digital classroom.
STUDENT'S ACHIEVE
Student's Achieve is an online grading system used at Kingsway College to monitor student academic progress and report cards.
Most assigned work will be visible on this website, along with corresponding due dates, and grade assessments. Attendance is also monitored through this website, and accessible to parents. This system is particularly important for parents who have students living in the dorm, as it allows you to monitor your students academic progress. Because, I teach English, this website is updated on a unit basis, but I often email parents when new grades are accessible.
